Weirdly enough, Lan Gen Bah is actually Ray Langenbach, an American conceptual artist based in Kuala Lumpur who loves to play with ironic earnestness, e.g. learning to convert people to Mormonism despite not being Mormon, or defending the US policy in Nicaragua and Iraq despite being against this policy. He's stated that he feels that the art community has always functioned as a jester in relation to the government, but now the art community takes itself so seriously that the jester needs a jester.
Quite what he's trying to accomplish with his paintings (which were geometric and didn't blow my mind) or his ethnic and gender drag, I don't know.
